We are happy to announce the next step in our continuing efforts to incorporate the latest equipment and state of the art techniques into our practice. We now have a Diode Laser available as a tool for some of our surgical procedures and as an adjunct to some of our periodontal cleanings. The Diode Laser gives us a gentle way to remove small growths or lesions, remove small folds of tissue called a frenum, reshape gum tissue and even remove excess gum tissue. The best part is that this can be accomplished with no bleeding and very little post-operative discomfort. In addition, the laser can be used to kill bacteria in periodontal pockets without damage to the root surface or surrounding gum tissue. Unfortunately, it will not remove tartar from the roots but when used in conjunction with conventional cleaning methods, it insures the removal of bacteria, improves the health of the gum tissue in the pocket and allows the gums to tighten so that pocket depths are greatly reduced or even eliminated. For 15 years we have had the goal of providing the best periodontal care available with the most up to date methods and the diode laser brings us another step closer to achieving this goal.
