Meet Dr. LaBell
Dr. LaBell grew up on Grosse Ile, a small island community in Southeast Michigan located at the mouth of the Detroit River right where it empties into Lake Erie.
He received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Microbiology from Michigan State University in June of 1982. In the fall of 1982, Dr. LaBell entered the Dental School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He graduated fourth in his class in May of 1986 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from the Dental School and a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Microbiology from the Biomedical Sciences School. While in school, he published two papers and received numerous awards and honors.
From July of 1986 through June of 1987, Dr. LaBell attended a General Practice Residency (GPR) position at the Dental Clinic of the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Miami, Florida. This program was affiliated with Jackson Memorial Hospital which served as the major trauma center for South Florida and it allowed Dr. LaBell to gain invaluable experience in many oral surgical techniques. He was even fortunate enough to scrub in on several advanced trauma surgeries involving the head and neck area. It was during this residency program that he met his future wife.
In August of 1987, Dr. LaBell entered a program to pursue certification as a Periodontist and to obtain a Ph.D. degree in Pathology at the University of Washington. He completed the Periodontal program in August of 1989 and successfully passed the Washington State Dental Licensing Boards.
He spent several more years working on his Ph.D., completing research at the University of Washington, and publishing several research papers.
In 1995, Dr. LaBell moved into his present periodontal practice in Downtown Woodinville where he specializes in periodontics including the placement of dental implants.
Dr. LaBell currently manages a professional study club for his colleagues providing continuing education in interdisciplinary treatment and planning. He maintains active memberships in the American Academy of Periodontology, the Washington State Society of Periodontists, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association, the Seattle-King County Dental Society and Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honor Society.
