Endoscopic Root Planing (Deep Cleaning Combined with Small Camera to See Under the Gums)

Tooth Cleaning Under the Gums Using Small Camera for Visualization.
Recent technological advancements have created a small camera that can be utilized to see under the gums into deep periodontal pockets. When this tiny camera is used in conjunction with conventional scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) techniques, the hygienist can be confident that the pockets are clean and the root surfaces are smooth. This adjunct to cleaning often results in greater decreases in periodontal pocketing than conventional scaling and root planing alone and can sometimes reduce the number of teeth requiring additional treatment and/or the severity of disease.
