Biopsy of Lesions Post-Op Instructions

A biopsy is used to remove a piece of tissue to submit to a pathology service for histologic analysis to help make a diagnosis. The post-operative care for a biopsy site is the same as described in the Post-surgical Instructions for all surgical procedures.

Your biopsy will go out the same day as your surgery. As soon as we hear back, we will contact you with the results and forward a copy of the histology report to you and your referring dental office. We use the Oral Pathology Service at the University of Washington for our Biopsies. If there are any dangerous findings, they will contact us quickly and we will be in contact with you immediately to determine a course of action.
