Uncovering of Impacted Teeth

Removal or Repositioning of Gum Tissue to Give Orthodontist Access to an Impacted Tooth.
Orthodontists can often move a tooth that fails to erupt on its own, into its proper location if they can place a bracket on the tooth to move the tooth.  This procedure lifts or removes the gum tissue covering such a tooth and puts the orthodontic bracket in place for the orthodontist to use. It is most commonly completed on impacted upper canine teeth, but can be completed on most teeth that fail to erupt. The method utilized depends on the location of the tooth, the type of orthodontic movement needed and the chance for gum problems developing as the tooth is moved into position.
